Files Together Mobile Edition (FT ME)
FT ME was designed to run on small browser windows like PDA and smartphone devices that have limited functionality. The browser support may vary due to the large number of different devices and the functionality they contain. Some client javascript is used and so the browser needs to support this.
Testing has been done the folowing actual platforms
1. HTC TyTn with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 using Pocket IE and Opera mobile
2. Nokia 6233 using the built in browser and Opera Mini
3. Blackberry Pearl
4. Nokia N73
Testing has also been done on the following emulators
1. Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 using Pocket IE
2. Opera mini at http://www.operamini.com/demo/
3. Blackberry 8800 for O2 simulator
This application can be used on a normal desktop window also.
You can delete, add files or folders, rename and lots more.....

To login in to the application you have to first key in a username and password.
Note: Remember the username and password are case sensitive.
The following dialogue is displayed:
Reset: To clear the username and password.

Default Screen View navigation
At the top of the screen there is the toolbar. This may contain server buttons or just the one depending on permissions.
Next there is a drop down menu of Drives that the user has access to. Next to that is the "Go" button. Clicking the "Go" button will return to the root of the selected drive. This should also be used to select the drive on browsers that have little or no javascript support.
Underneath this, there is a field that displays your current path. The folder/file list is then displayed below.
By folder you will see the content of that folder.
By clicking on a particular file, you will see the file menu options.
Clicking on the
icon will bring you up a level.

To exit the application, click on
icon.

By using the 'Manager Folder' option
, you can manage the current folder.
- Select the folder that you would like to manage.
- Click on Manage Folder in the Default Screen
The following dialog will be displayed:
The options available are:
- Add Folder
- Rename
- Delete
- Download
Cancel will bring you back to the default screen view.

The Current Path field displays the current path of the folder
- Key in a name for your new folder
- Click Create Folder to save the folder
Cancel will discard the charges the changes and go back to the previous page.

This option helps you to download a folder by zipping all the files in it.
- Clicking on Open will open the content of the folder
- Click Save to save the whole content in another place
Cancel will discard the download.

This changes the existing name of the folder.
Folder to rename: displays the current path and the old name of the folder.
- Type in the new name of the folder in the Rename to: field
- Click on Rename to save the new name
Cancel will discard the changes.

This deletes an unwanted folder.
- Select the folder that you want to delete
- Click on Delete
The following dialog will be displayed:
The Folder delete field will display the path of the selected folder.
- Click on Delete to delete the folder.
NB: Remember if you delete a folder then all the sub-folder and files contained within that folder will be deleted whereas if file is deleted only that file is deleted.
Cancel will discard the changes.

Cancel will bring you back to the default screen view.

By using the 'Add file' option on the Default Screen, you can create a new file. This can be created on the main Drive or in a particular folder.
- Select the drive or folder in which you would like to add the file.
- Click on Add File
The following dialog will be displayed:
- Click on Browse to select the file to be added.
- Click on Upload files to add the file
Clicking on Cancel will discard the changes and go back to the previous page.
If you have a file with the same name, you will get the message “File already exists. Upload Failed”. You can overwrite the existing file by clicking the checkbox Overwrite if file exists.
NB. The "file upload" functionality is not supported on all phones but should be on all modern pda's. Please check your phone makers documentation for details.

This option helps you to download a file by zipping.
- Clicking on Open will open the content of the file
- Click Save to save the whole content in another place

This deletes an unwanted file.
- Select the file that you want to delete
- Click on Delete

- Click on Confirm Delete to delete the file

- To email the file via a web link click "Email link"
This dialog creates a one time only link that downloads the file. You can copy this link and paste it to your default email client or (depending on the browser) you may click on the "Mail to" link and that should open up your default email client with the link already inserted into the email body.
NB. Outlook or whatever your mail client is should automatically open on your screen if it supports the mailto functionality
NB. The "mailto" functionality is not supported on all phones but should be on all modern pda's. Please check your phone makers documentation for details.
NB. The link which is sent through Outlook can be used only once.

This is a context sensitive plugin in that it only appears for ".doc" files.
When you click on a .doc file you will see the "View as text" menu option.
Click on this option to view the text contained in the document (Note that images and formating are not included in the view).
Click "Back" to return to the file menu.
